Seville
Seville is a municipality and a city in Spain, capital of Andalusia. Its old town is the largest in Spain and one of the largest in Europe.
Its historical and monumental heritage make it a destination for national and international tourism, and it is the third most visited capital city in Spain. Among its most representative monuments are the cathedral (including the Giralda), the Alcázar, the Archivo de Indias and the Torre del Oro, the first three of which were jointly declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1987.
The port of Seville is the only seaport in Spain in an inland city, since the Guadalquivir River is navigable from its mouth in Sanlúcar de Barrameda to the Andalusian capital.
With the celebration of the EXPO in 1929, the city underwent a great urban development marked by the creation of parks and the construction of buildings, such as the María Luisa Park and the Plaza de España.
The 1992 World Expo left the city with a legacy of significant infrastructure improvements.
