Nerja
Nerja is a municipality in the province of Malaga and the easternmost town in the Axarquia region.
Nerja has a long history, as evidenced by the paintings found in the Nerja Cave in 1959, considered one of the oldest in the history of mankind, dating back 42,000 years. Since the 1960s, it has been a favourite tourist destination on the Costa del Sol.
Nerja has a mild climate all year round, which allows the cultivation of tropical fruits such as custard apple, avocado and mango.
The most visited places in Nerja are the Cave of Nerja and the Balcon de Europa, situated in the centre of the village. This is an idyllic place to take a panoramic photograph of the Mediterranean Sea or pose next to the famous statue of King Alfonso XII.
