Barcelona
Barcelona is a city in Spain, the capital of the autonomous community of Catalonia and the second most populous city in Spain after Madrid. It is located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, about 120 km from the Pyrenees mountain range and the French border.
Barcelona's history spans 4000 years, from the Neolithic period, with the first remains found in the city's territory, to the present day. Iberians, Romans, Jews, Visigoths, Muslims and Christians have all passed through Barcelona, which is why the city has such an important foundation, each of them having enriched it.
Barcelona has been the scene of various international events that have helped to consolidate it. The most important of these have been the Universal Exhibition in 1888, the International Exhibition in 1929, the 1992 Olympic Games and the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004.
Today, Barcelona is recognised for its cultural, commercial, financial and tourist importance.
It also has one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean.
Barcelona is a modern city with many monuments and lots of things to see and do. The most emblematic: the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, the Port of Barcelona, Las Ramblas, the Boqueria, the Gothic Quarter and much more...
