Antequera

Trips & Excursions for Groups to Antequera

Antequera is a town and municipality in the province of Malaga. It is in a strategic geographical enclave, being located in the centre of Andalusia, 45 km from Malaga.

The Vega de Antequera is irrigated by the river Guadalhorce, which makes it a fertile agricultural area that provides cereals, olive oil and vegetables in abundance.

This area was inhabited more than 6,000 years ago and still preserves an extensive archaeological and architectural heritage, including the Menga, Viera and El Romeral dolmens, as well as numerous churches, convents and small palaces from different periods and styles.

Its surroundings include the El Torcal Natural Park, famous for its curious limestone rock formations, which create one of the most impressive landscapes in Europe.

This natural area, together with the dolmens of Menga, Viera, El Romeral and the Peña de los Enamorados, make up the Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Ensemble, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.
