Group Trips & Excursions to Valencia

Valencia is a municipality and a city in Spain, capital of the Valencian Community and the third most populous city and metropolitan area in Spain, behind Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia was founded by the Romans as a colony in 138 BC and was called Valentina Edetanorum.

In 711, the Muslims conquered the city, introducing language, religion and customs, such as the implementation of irrigation systems and the introduction of new crops. In 1238, the city was reconquered by the Christian King James I of Aragon.

The city is located on the banks of the River Turia, on the Levantine coast. Some 10 kilometres to the south is the Albufera de Valencia, one of the largest lakes in Spain, with a surface area of around 2,100 hectares, to which must be added 14,000 hectares of rice paddies.

The historic old town is one of the largest in Spain, with nearly 169 hectares. Thanks to its historical and monumental heritage, Valencia is one of the cities with the greatest influx of national and international tourism.

Among its most emblematic monuments are the Miguelete, the Cathedral, the Serranos and Quart Towers, the Silk Exchange (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996) and the City of Arts and Sciences.

Due to its long history, it is a city with many festivals, among the most outstanding are Las Fallas, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2016. Valencia is a great city where there is much to discover.
